A batch of WWE rumors popped up on Wednesday suggesting that superstars Mike Bennett and Maria Kanellis asked for their release from the company. The appears prominently in promotions for the upcoming WWE 2K19 Rising Stars pack. While that initial speculation came at a surprising time just ahead of the new DLC release and the WWE Royal Rumble, it appears there is a new report about it all.
WWE Rumors on Mike Bennett & Maria Kanellis release
There were recent rumors that WWE’s tag team The Revival (Dash and Wilder) asked for their release from the company. Not long after those rumors hit, the report came about Mike and Maria. The couple is part of the WWE’s 205 Live roster after initially debuting on SmackDown Live.
They also were featured in the first entrance video released for the upcoming WWE 2K19 Rising Stars pack. Both Mike and Maria tweeted about that as well. WWE 2K released the new Maria entrance video on Wednesday night as the rumors were going. The video (below) promotes her as a playable character for the DLC. Maria retweeted it with a “Yesssss!” comment.

Maria’s husband Mike tweeted about the Rising Stars Pack on the day it was first announced. He posted the first Rising Stars video promo along with a comment “Hey mom, look. Your little boys in a video game!!” In addition to that, Mike has been active on his Twitter with other posts, one of which is a video talking about “owning your self-worth” and not allowing others’ doubt to get into your head.
That video is particularly relevant as the new report on the WWE rumors is that Mike had a lengthy talk with WWE COO Triple H about his future with the company. Fightful.com’s Sean Ross Sapp tweeted about the report.

The latest report seems to suggest that Mike and Maria could be sticking around, at least a bit longer. That’s probably good news for WWE 2K based on their recent promotion of the DLC which is an item for purchase on January 22.
The duo isn’t featured for any matches yet at the WWE’s Royal Rumble 2019. However, both Mike and Maria could pop up in the men’s and women’s Royal Rumble matches as each has 30 superstars.
