WWE SummerSlam 2019 Rumors: Goldberg vs. Dolph Ziggler 2K19 Match Simulation Results
Over the past several days and weeks, the WWE SummerSlam 2019 rumors picked up a bit with talk of another possible match on the card. To the surprise of fans, it would feature the return of WWE legend Goldberg to take on “The Showoff” Dolph Ziggler. So far, the match is unconfirmed, although there are some hints at it. Ahead of the possibility, we decided to put it to the test on a WWE 2K19 simulation to see who might win it.

A Goldberg vs. Dolph Ziggler match has never happened and probably isn’t at the top of most fans’ wishlists for matches they want to see. So where’d these WWE SummerSlam 2019 rumors come from? Mostly from the fact that Dolph has been taking shots at Goldberg during promo bits, as seen in the clip below and mentioned in this July 30 article. There’s also Wrestling Observer indicating that it’s a match WWE is planning to have on the card.
The rumors have drawn a mixed reaction from fans on social media. Most of this is due to the Goldberg vs. Undertaker match that took place in Saudi Arabia. Taker won the match, but it wasn’t well received due to some major botches. However, there’s a belief this occurred due to the extreme heat in the outdoor arena, as well as Goldberg getting concussed on the ring post.
Undertaker teamed up with Roman Reigns to redeem himself with an entertaining victory over Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre at Extreme Rules 2019. Most likely, Goldberg wants a chance to redeem himself, or the WWE could offer him one. Dolph Ziggler seems like a superstar who may be easier for Goldberg to lift for moves too. The other aspect is that Goldberg is a major star and could bring more viewers to watch SummerSlam and see what happens next.

Whether the Goldberg vs. Dolph Ziggler match actually takes place at SummerSlam 2019 or not, it’s always an option in WWE 2K19. Therefore we fired up the game and pitted these two superstars against one another. Both guys are on the roster and there’s two different Goldbergs to choose from. When it came down to it, he still had a higher rating than today’s Ziggler. Goldberg is a 90 and Dolph is an 84 among the WWE 2K19 superstars on the roster. Would it matter? When it comes down to it, the WWE 2K19 simulation has Dolph Ziggler putting Goldberg down for a pinfall after several ZigZag finishers. That would put another big loss on Goldberg’s record, who years ago returned to show his son what he was capable of.
The best guess is that if WWE puts Goldberg back in the ring again it will be so he can get a victory, since he is supposed to be retired. Putting Ziggler over would be great in some fans’ opinions too. However, the story suggests something else might be in the works.
So far there’s no word on whether this match takes place at WWE SummerSlam 2019, but fans can play it out on WWE 2K19 to see the different possible results. The WWE’s big pay-per-view arrives on Sunday, August 11 from Toronto, Canada.
