Have you been wondering why there will be AA batteries in the Xbox Series X controller? They seem a bit old-fashioned, don’t they? Jason Ronald, Partner Director of Program Management at Xbox, addressed why AA batteries power the Xbox Series X controller during a recent press briefing.
Here is Why AA Batteries Power the Xbox Series X Controller
Ronald said during the press briefing, “What it comes down to is when actually talking to gamers, it’s kind of polarising and there is a strong camp that really want AAs. So just giving flexibility is the way to please both [sets of] people… You can use a rechargeable battery pack and it works just like it does on the Elite, [but] it is a separate thing.”
So, that offers some clarification. And as you can see, Microsoft is just trying to keep options as open as possible for gamers. So, if you want to use a rechargeable battery pack, that is up to you. But if you prefer AAs, you still have the chance to use them. Also, if you pay $24.99, you can purchase the officially licensed rechargeable battery from Xbox.
Now that you know why AA batteries still power the Xbox Series X controller, you can catch up on some of the other recent news regarding Xbox Series X. We now know that Warframe is coming to the system as well as PS5. Also, assuming there are no unforeseen delays, we should be able to get our hands on the Xbox Series X in November of this year. That news comes despite the recent prediction from market research firm DFC Intelligence that the launch of the next gen consoles may be delayed past the holiday release window. We will keep you posted as we learn more.
