Xbox Mocks PlayStation Controller Compatibility Gaps

If you are a Sony gamer, you doubtless heard that you will not be able to play on your PS5 using a DualShock 4. Pretty ridiculous, right? Well, Xbox UK marketing lead Samuel Bateman is just as derisive as you might be about the PlayStation controller compatibility gaps. Let’s take a look at what he had to say.

What Bateman Said About PlayStation Controller Compatibility Gaps

Bateman tweeted recently to boast about the backwards and forwards compatibility of the Xbox One and Xbox Series X controllers.

The text of Bateman’s first tweet says, “Just a reminder that you can use all your Xbox One controllers with the Xbox Series X (both XB1 and XSX games). This includes the Elite Series 2, SCUF Controllers and all previous ranges.” His second remark adds, “Not a lot of people know this, but you can actually use the new Xbox Series X controller on your Xbox One if you wanted to. Pretty neat backwards *and* forwards compatibility with devices.”

You can tell from the way he phrased it that Bateman is likely mocking Sony’s PlayStation controller compatibility gaps. Alas, we probably should not be surprised. Microsoft certainly is way ahead of Sony in the backwards compatibility department when it comes to games. So, perhaps it is not unexpected that they would be with respect to controllers as well. Still, it would be nice if Sony would start making compatibility more of a priority all around. It would probably do a lot to help the company stay competitive and also build loyalty from the player base.

In other news, there is a State of Play event scheduled for August. Alas, we will not be hearing about PS5 during the event. Nevertheless, there is a rumor that there will be a separate PS5 announcement of some sort this month. We will keep you posted on the latest regarding both in our PlayStation news.
