Uppers is a popular game that came out in 2016 in Japan for PS Vita. After a positive reception, XSEED Games decided to eventually release additional versions for PC and PS4 outside of Japan. But, here’s the thing—the PS4 version of Uppers is not going to happen. XSEED just canceled it, even though it was supposed to come out in a couple of weeks. Needless to say, the timing is abrupt and surprising.
Why Did XSEED Games Cancel the PS4 Version of Uppers?
The big question is, “Why?” Unfortunately, there is no answer to that question as of right now. XSEED has made no statement to explain the abrupt cancellation. Regardless, it will still be possible to buy the PC version of the game, releasing on Steam on October 21st. Hopefully, the publisher will eventually grace us with an explanation, as a lot of PS4 gamers are probably feeling very disappointed right now.
Not familiar with Uppers, and want to know more? The description for the game reads, “Last Resort Island is a city consumed by desire — for those that live on the island, the greatest amusement is violence,” reads an official pitch of the game. “A single person’s strength alone can build a great fortune, and earn the admiration of the populace. With strength, motivation, and fire in their eyes, two young men, Ranma and Michiru, arrive at Last Resort Island to begin their quest, their sights aimed for the top — but they aren’t the only ones on Last Resort Island with lofty ambitions.”
You will be able to buy the PC version of the game for $30. If you are looking for news on other games for PS4 or PS5, you can view our PlayStation news section.
