The New York Yankees and Cleveland are used to being in the post season. While the Yankees have been playing well despite numerous injuries so far in 2019, Cleveland has been stumbling. Will some home cooking help the Tribe get on track, or will New York continue their great play?
Where the Yankees, Indians stand now
At 39-22, the Yankees lead the AL East by one game over the Rays. The Tribe, on the other hand, are 31-31 on the season and 9.5 games behind the surging Minnesota Twins in the AL Central. Tonight (Friday) kicks off a big 3-game set between these two AL powerhouses and MLB Network has already made their prediction.
New York trails early
In the latest MLB the Show 19 Gameplay simulation (via MLB Network) between the Yankees and Indians, Cleveland wasted little time getting on the board.

Leadoff hitter Francisco Lindor smashed a home run to deep right center giving Cleveland a 1-0 lead. The game stayed that way for most of the game as Game 1 of this 3-game set turned into a pitcher’s duel.
New York’s Kendrys Morales tied the game at 1-1 after he smashed a solo shot into right field seats.
In the 5th, the hot hitting DJ LeMahieu hit a sacrifice fly to left to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead. That run was all the Yankees needed to close out the game, thanks to some great defense by Brett Gardner and strong relief pitching by the Yankees bullpen.
The stat lines weren’t impressive if you like offense, but in the end, the New York Yankees held on for the 2-1 victory over the Cleveland Indians. Will tonight’s game play out the same way as predicted? In less than five or six hours from now, fans will know!
