Alongside the launch of Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite, and the addition of a new Mayhem 4 difficulty setting, Gearbox’s latest Borderlands 3 patch also includes several significant quality of life improvements. One notable improvement, no doubt implemented due to player feedback, is a much larger Bank. Plus, there are new vending machines throughout the game, as well as dedicated loot pools for the game’s bosses.
Takedown, Mayhem 4, and More in the Latest Borderlands 3 Patch
The focus on the latest Borderlands 3 patch has, of course, been on the major new content release; Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite. Equivalent to an endgame raid for Borderlands 3, the Takedown caters directly to players looking for a new challenge. Plus, Gearbox simultaneously launched Mayhem 4, a new difficulty setting which offers exclusive loot items. However, beyond those two things, the new patch includes some important quality of life changes.
The first of these is an expansion to the Borderlands 3 Bank. Players have been asking for more Bank space for a while now, so this change isn’t exactly surprising. From now on, players will start with 20 Bank slots instead of 10 when they start the game. Until now, players could get up to 100 slots via SDUs. However, that has now been increased to 300, with each SDU adding 20 new slots.
Also new in this patch is a change to the way that bosses drop loot. The patch updates all of the Borderlands 3 bosses to have dedicated loot pools. This means that players may now find it easier to farm certain items, as they will only be dropped by certain bosses. Players can also shop at several new vending machines throughout the game. These can be found in Athenas, the Atlas HQ, Jakobs Estate, Lectra City, Tazendeer Ruins, The Pyre of Stars, and Voracious Canopy. Finally, perhaps in a nod to the upcoming DLC, the patch also adds a new Handsome Jack target dummy aboard Sanctuary III, on which players can test out their new weapons.
