Destiny 2: Moments of Triumph Get a Surprise Early Launch

This past Saturday, July 7 was this year’s official Bungie Day, a day which Bungie started celebrating several years prior because it happens to be the seventh day of the year’s seventh month (7/7). For this year’s Bungie Day, Bungie had a special surprise in store for Destiny 2 fans: the surprise early launch of the game’s Moments of Triumph event, a limited-time event which actually made its debut back in the original Destiny.

According to this announcement post (https://www.bungie.net/en/Explore/Detail/News/46995) over on Bungie’s website, the Destiny 2 Year One Moments of Triumph event will last until August 28, and what’s available now is actually just a small portion of what the full event will offer when it launches as part of the Solstice of Heroes in-game event on July 31.

Here are the rewards players can earn through the Moments of Triumph.

For the Moments of Triumph event, players can log into their profile (https://www.bungie.net/en/Companion?bru=%252Fen%252FProfile%252F) on Bungie’s website to track which triumphs they’ve completed. More dedicated players might even find that they’ve already completed most or even all of the triumphs that are currently available, and Bungie says more triumphs will be introduced in the July 31 update. Currently available triumphs include finishing Destiny 2’s various campaigns (core game and DLC), completing the Raid and Raid Lairs, collecting a total of 25 Exotics, opening all region chests, and more.

Each triumph completed awards a certain number of points, and reaching specific point thresholds grants a series of unique rewards as outlined in the below list:

  • Complete any triumph to earn a special in-game tracking emblem that tracks the total number of triumph points earned
  • Earn 125 points to unlock the ‘Right Choice’ Legendary Ghost Shell
  • Earn 250 points to unlock the ability to purchase a special Solstice of Heroes t-shirt in the Bungie store ($29.99)
  • Earn 300 points to unlock the ‘Comrades in Arms’ Legendary Sparrow
  • Earn 400 points to get the ‘Eternally Triumphant’ emblem

Earning 400 points will require completing all of the available triumphs, but currently only 225 points can be earned. Players will have to wait until July 31 to earn the remaining 175 points. Bungie’s blog post also teases the new armor sets that will be available during the Solstice of Heroes event, and the studio promises to unveil more about Solstice of Heroes in its July 17 This Week at Bungie blog post.

Meanwhile, in other Destiny 2 news, a recent Game Informer cover story revealed some interesting new information about the game’s upcoming Forsaken expansion, including the exact nature of the expansion’s new Guardian sub-classes and supers, and how it will drastically raise the maximum level cap.
