On the 28th of August, following the recent launch of Season Five Reloaded, Activision and Infinity Ward will be launching Games of Summer; a major global event in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone. This event, which will be free-to-play, will give players the chance to represent their country by taking part in five solo Trials, earning both medals and unique event rewards.
Modern Warfare Games of Summer: The Five Trials
Each of the five Games of Summer Trials will be solo experiences which allow players to earn Bronze, Silver, and Gold medals. All medals contribute to their country’s overall score. Moreover, players can also unlock rewards ranging from XP to Legendary Weapon Blueprints. Each Trial will launch one day after another and will be playable until the event ends on the 7th of September. (The day before the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War multiplayer reveal.)
- Trial #1: Gun Course (August 28th): Set on a custom ‘Gun Course’ map, the first Games of Summer Trial challenges players to clear a shooting course, eliminating enemy targets while avoiding the civilians. A range of weapons will be available to use. To earn a medal, you’ll need to complete the course in under a certain time; Bronze – 01:30; Silver – 01:00; – Gold 00:40.
- Trial #2: Price’s Alley (August 29th): Also featuring a custom map, the second Trial is similar to Gun Course; players will need to eliminate a series of enemy targets and avoid civilian casualties. However, rather than moving through a course, you’ll have to shoot an endless series of targets and maintain a combo while scoring points. Additionally, you’ll have to use a Renetti Handgun. To earn a medal, you’ll need to earn the following total points; Bronze – 4,000; Silver – 5,000; Gold – 6,000.
- Trial #3: Risky Parkour (August 30th): Set on the new Livestock Gunfight map, Risky Parkour requires players to complete an obstacle course as fast as they can by moving through a series of checkpoints. To complicate matters, a haze of toxic gas covers the floor, making ground-level dangerous. To earn a medal, you’ll need to complete the course in under the following time; Bronze – 00:55; Silver – 00:47; Gold – 00:40.
- Trial #4: Shooting Range (August 31st): Set on the map King, this Trial is a simple target shooting range. Players will need to hit every target on the range as fast as they can, while conserving ammunition. A range of weapons will be available. To earn a medal, you’ll need to complete the Trial in under a set time; Bronze – 00:50; Silver – 00:40; Gold – 00:30.
- Trial #5: Marksman Challenge (September 1st): The fifth and final challenge will feature a custom map, and will require players to hit waves of long-range targets with an HDR sniper rifle. Each target hit will score points, but players are also facing a time limit, and every shot missed will burn time from that clock. To earn a medal, players must earn the requisite number of points; Bronze – 3,400; Silver – 3,900; Gold – 4,400.
