Legends Gamer Pro Review

If you miss the days of classic arcade gaming, you may long for a way to bring the arcade experience home. AtGames is a company that has made that possible through a line of home arcade devices. Today, I am going to share my experience with you in my Legends Gamer Pro review. I was lucky enough to receive one of these early, and so far, it’s been an absolute blast!

What is Legends Gamer Pro?

Legends Gamer Pro is the Pro edition of the Legends Gamer device. There is also a Standard edition and a Mini edition. It is a device that fits on your tabletop and includes arcade-style controls along with an HD Streaming Box and 150 licensed games.

In other words, for one reasonable price, you can bring the equivalent of an entire arcade into your living room! And yes—it is every bit as exciting as it sounds.

Legends Gamer Pro Setup

I measured the Legends Gamer Pro tabletop controller after I took it out of the box; it is 29.53 x 3.75 x 10.03 inches. It features classic arcade aesthetics with a spacey background and bright colors in the foreground. There are two sets of controls, so you and a family member or friend can play simultaneously (and comfortably, given the dimensions).

Also included is a small, round disc-shaped component, which is the streaming box. There’s a power supply as well as a USB cable and an HDMI cable. Being as the latter was just a foot long, I replaced it with my own, but it’s nice that they included it just in case you don’t have anything else on hand. Setup was pretty easy, thanks to the manual, which was clear and straightforward.

You don’t have to leave the unit plugged in all the time; you can charge the battery, after which you shouldn’t need to do so again for a few days.

Legends Gamer Pro Features

In terms of controls, the Legends Gamer Pro includes eight action buttons per player, two joysticks, two pinball buttons on each side, and a trackball. The trackball is the feature that distinguishes the Legends Gamer Pro from the Standard edition, and adds $50 of value. If you have any experience with the Legends Ultimate, the control deck will seem pretty familiar to you.

After you finish the setup, you can power up the device. Check for the two blue lights in the upper right-hand corner to make sure everything is connected properly with Bluetooth for both sets of controls. Sometimes you have to hold the power button down for a moment to reestablish the connection after starting it up.

You’ll see all of the games organized in alphabetical order on your screen. Don’t have an ArcadeNet account? You’ll need to make one before you can dive in. While playing, I found all of the controls were responsive. The sensitivity for the trackball wasn’t ideal for me starting out, but I found that I could adjust it in the settings. After tweaking it a little bit, I was really happy with it.

Speaking of settings, you have detailed control over the appearance of the user interface and much more. You can even control what page the device will load on startup. Legends Gamer Pro supports voice chat and live streaming. Also, if you have a monitor with a portrait configuration, you can switch from landscape to portrait in a jiffy.

Legends Gamer Pro Game Selection

150 different arcade and console games are loaded into the Legends Gamer Pro when you receive the device. You can find the full list of games here. You will find games from Taito, Disney, Jaleco, Piko, and others. They are not limited to this selection either; you can also play 50 additional ArcadeNet games, and you can load in your own games.

Some of these games were familiar to me, but many were new to me. So far, I’ve had a great time with everything I have tried. Legends Gamer Pro has run smoothly without any hiccups, and when I have needed to modify settings, I have found navigation a breeze.

Verdict: An Incredible Value and a Stellar Home Arcade Experience

Finding a way to relive the classic arcade experience and share it with friends is something that had been on my wish-list for a long time, but now, I can finally cross it off! Legends Gamer Pro is exactly what I was looking for.

Honestly, I would have happily paid more for this device. The current price of $249.99 is a bargain when you consider what you are getting: a full home arcade setup and 150 quality games to go along with it plus access to more through ArcadeNet.

So, if you are thinking about placing an order for the Legends Gamer Pro, I can’t recommend it enough. I am confident that you will be pleased with what you get, and can look forward to many satisfying hours of classic arcade gaming over the years to come.
