Square Enix has revealed the reason for the lack of Final Fantasy 7 Remake news in recent years. While Kingdom Hearts 3 has enjoyed a plethora of new details lately, fans of this long-awaited remake have been mostly left in the dust. This has led to rampant speculation in the gaming community as to what’s happening with the game. It doesn’t help that rumors like a 2023 release date and others have proliferated in the absence of official news.
Thankfully, we have an official reason now for the lack of Final Fantasy 7 Remake news. Director Tetsuya Nomura revealed the reason in an interview recently with Dengeki PlayStation, the same interview that revealed some interesting new details about Kingdom Hearts 3 earlier today. The reason behind the lack of info is simple; Square Enix is “prioritizing” the release of other titles first like Kingdom Hearts 3.
Nomura also reassured that the lack of Final Fantasy 7 Remake news has nothing to do with the state of its development. He also noted that he understands the concern for the game after “some fake news.” Fans shouldn’t worry, though, as development on the highly anticipated JRPG remake is going “favorably.” We will all have to wait patiently in order to get some juicy new tidbits on the game.
Kingdom Hearts 3 will be launching early next year on January 25th, 2019 in Japan and a few days later on January 29th in North America and Europe. Most likely, we won’t get any Final Fantasy 7 Remake news until after or right before that launch if we had to guess. It is understandable that Square Enix wouldn’t want to overload news on its two potentially biggest games in development right now when it could be spread out.
