Resident Evil fans can now play a special “1-shot” demo of the upcoming Resident Evil 2 remake. However, the demo restricts total playtime to a mere 30 minutes, which means efficiency is key. In this brief guide, we’ll provide some gameplay tips and strategies to ensure you’re never wasting a moment.
Resident Evil 2 Remake Demo Strategies
Now, before you start stressing over time constraints, you should know the 30-minute timer is actually quite generous. Even if you take the time to explore every nook and cranny, the demo’s main path isn’t very long. If you focus solely on completing the main objectives, the demo lasts about 10-15 minutes at the most. However, there is some optional content to discover if you really want to push the demo’s timer to its limits.
Here are some general gameplay tips to be aware of while playing the demo:
- The timer continues to tick down during non-interactive cutscenes so don’t be afraid to skip them if needed.
- Inversely, the timer won’t tick down when the game is paused. If you need to step away or take a quick breather, your remaining time allotment will be preserved.
- Zombies can absorb a surprisingly high number of bullets, even when you’re going for headshots. When you’re able, try to dodge and/or sprint past zombies to save time and conserve ammunition.
- There sadly isn’t an auto-aim toggle in the demo so lining up headshots can sometimes be tricky. Thankfully, the Resident Evil 2 remake’s full version will have an auto-aim option.
As we mentioned above, the demo has a few optional puzzles and discovery elements. However, completing these elements doesn’t alter or expand the final reward for completing the demo (a new teaser trailer). You can solve these optional puzzles if you want, just know it’s strictly for personal completionist purposes.
There are also some hidden demo elements which Capcom probably didn’t expect fans to uncover. These elements include (but aren’t limited to) a new game plus mode.
